Teaching and Research Fellowships

The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) is inviting applications for fellowships beginning August 2012 in a variety of fields such as business and economics.  The fellowships will last a minimum of one year, during which fellows will be expected to teach 2 to 3 Business or Economics courses per semester to Iraqi students (in English), and in addition to salary will receive a $5,000 annual budget for research and relevant conference participation.  Those interested in applying should send their CV and a cover letter detailing AUIS’ relevance to their specific teaching and research interests. Recent doctoral graduates, as well as those in the final stages of their dissertation, are encouraged to apply.

Located in the peaceful Kurdistan Region of Iraq, AUIS is the country’s only non-profit, independent, American-style university. Founded in 2007, the university now boasts close to 600 students in its undergraduate programs on a new, modern campus covering over 400 acres.

In addition to its general education courses, AUIS offers degrees in Business Administration, Information Systems and Technology, International Studies, and Engineering to students from all backgrounds across Iraq. All instruction is in English. AUIS aims to instill the future leaders of Iraq with the general and specialized skills needed to bring prosperity and liberty to the newly-democratic nation. Now in its fifth year, the university aims to diversify and strengthen its academic offerings, particularly in the social sciences.

Application materials and questions about the fellowships should be sent to Scott McCoubrey at scott.mccoubrey@auis.edu.iq
