At AUIS, we believe a student's activites outside the classroom are important to educating the whole person and to providing students a well-rounded university experience. Involvement in student organizations gives students the opportunity to make an impact and leave their mark at AUIS, while developing new skills and forging new relationships.  

To that end, we encourage all students to become active in the many campus activities available at AUIS. Through our many campus activities, AUIS students develop a diverse set of core values that honor teamwork, sportsmanship, community, and leadership, while enhancing self-confidence.

Archeological and Cultural Heritage Club
ARCH is a student group which aims to explore and document local archaeological sites by visiting them, taking photos and collecting information about them. Their goal is to publish our information online through their blog and our Facebook page.

AES aims to promote engineering education at AUIS. Critical Reading Club
The purpose of the Critical Reading Club is to create intellectual conversations and discussions on classical literature and to learn about basic priciples of creative writing.

Debate Society
The AUIS Debate Society encourages free speech and intellectual debate on important and contentious issues. Students practice logically articulating arguments while respecting the merits of each other's ideas in the American Parliamentary Debate style. The Debate Society meets once a week and has competed in tournaments in Iraq and other parts of the Middle East.

Philosophical Reading Club
This club aims to bring philosophy into life via the reading and discussion of selected traditional texts. Our approach is based on considering the philosophical life as not academic alone, but as using a dialectical method to develop an awareness of the key aspects of reality (outward and inward), and to achieve an objectivity toward oneself, with a view toward living a good life.

Photography Club
The Photography Club helps AUIS students take stunning photos. The group studies the techniques and proper camera settings in order to take great photos in a variety of situations. Field trips let the students put the theory into practice.

Programming Club
This club aims to promote computer programming as both an educational and a recreational activity, to help develop participants’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and to encourage student participation in regional and international programming contests. Shakespeare Company
Students and faculty work on a year-end production. On June 2, 2011, the Company performed "What's in a Name?" - a collection of Shakespeare scenes from various plays.

Yearbook Club
The Yearbook Club has the primary goal of publishing a chronicle of the school year by producing the AUIS Yearbook. Students help to take pictures at events and then organize them into yearbook pages. They help to create the layout of the yearbook, create collages, and develop the overall theme.
