Sulaimani, Iraq – May 25, 2013 – The American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) will host its second annual commencement exercises on May 30.  Nearly 1,000 family members, friends, and distinguished guests are expected to attend the event held on the AUIS campus.  The ceremony will be presided over by Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Barham Salih and AUIS President Dr. Athanasios Moulakis. 
Sulaimani, Iraq – May 5, 2013 – This Spring, nearly 6,000 students from sixty different high schools in the Sulaimani Governorate visited the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) to attend admissions information sessions and walking tours of the University’s facilities.
Sulaimani, Iraq – April 21, 2013 – From April 26-May 2 the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS) will host a groundbreaking international festival, The Art of Social Justice.  Seven critically-acclaimed guest artists from the United States, as well as a dozen Iraqi artists, from the disciplines of film, theater, photography, literature, and poetry will come together to address a single question: how can artistic expression help to foster social justice in Iraqi society?

AUIS Spotlight

Faculty
Dr. Zak Sitter joined AUIS in the fall of 2012 to teach in the Department of English.  He received both his Ph.D. and M.A. from Brown University in English and completed his undergraduate education at Harvard University in Literature.
Student of The Month
The APP student of this month is Mohammed Sabir for his grades, attitude, and perfect attendance and participation records.Mohammed Sabir, the APP student of April, was placed in level three right away, learning his English only from TV. “Mohammed has displayed academic excellence this semester with devotion and good humor,” said a teacher of his.  “He is a great example of how a student can be fun and engaging while still taking his education seriously.”
Student of The Month
Alka is a tremendous asset to AUIS both in the classroom and out.  Besides her high GPA, she volunteers for a number of good causes both on campus and in the larger community and is always more interested in positive results than personal recognition.

My name is Aryan Dilshad Ali. I am 23 years old. I was born in Germany and I have Austrian citizenship. I studied at Shahid Jabar exemplary high school and was among the first group who graduated from that school. When I was getting to the end of high school I was worried about which university to choose to continue my studies.
