What are the programs currently offered by AUIS?

Does AUIS have a pharmacy/dentistry/medical college?

No. We are a young university and are adding new programs every year, but we cannot commit to announcing the additions of any other programs at this time. For more information about our current academic program offerings, click here.

Does AUIS have any Masters programs?

Yes, we have one. AUIS’ Professional Development Institute offers an MBA in International Management and Leadership tailored for working professionals. You can find information about our Executive MBA program here.

Does AUIS offer online classes?

AUIS does not currently have online courses.

Applying to AUIS

How much does it cost to study at AUIS?

Tuition fees are based on merit and so vary from student to student.  For more information on the fee structure, click here.

I am a student from outside of Iraq. Can I study at AUIS? How?

Yes. Students applying from outside of Iraq must officially equalize their high school certification through the Ministry of Higher Education in Baghdad or Erbil. After the Ministry equalizes their high school record into the Iraqi system, you will receive the equivalent of a Baccalaureate score. AUIS only accepts students with a Baccalaureate score above 70 and some between 60 and 69 (on a case-by-case basis).

What Baccalaureate score do I need to be accepted to AUIS?

AUIS accepts students with Baccalaureate Exam scores above 70. AUIS will also accept some students between 60 and 69 on a case-by-case basis. However, our Engineering program requires a score of 75 or higher.

Academic Preparatory Program

What is the Academic Preparatory Program?

The Academic Preparatory Program (APP) offers intensive English-language training to prepare students for AUIS’s English-only undergraduate program. Most AUIS students spend at least some time in APP before entering the undergraduate program to ensure their English is of very high quality. Click here for more information about APP.

What is the nature of the English Placement Test entrance examination?

The English Placement Test is a three-part exam that measures student ability in English grammar, reading and writing. Based on an English Placement Test results, students will be placed into a Level (1-4). Students must test into Level 1 or higher to be accepted into AUIS.. 

How long does it take to complete the APP program?

Between 1 and 4 semesters, depending on where you place in.

Accreditation

Is AUIS accredited?

We currently have two forms of accreditation:

  • License to operate as a university from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
  • National accreditation in the United States from the American Academy of Liberal Education; national accreditation is programmatic accreditation in the US.  In addition, AUIS is currently pursuing regional accreditation in the US, which is a more prestigious institutional accreditation.

Is AUIS accredited by the Iraqi government?

AUIS currently has provisional recognition from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Baghdad.  Our University has been in close contact with the Ministry in Baghdad and the final paperwork is in process now.

Is AUIS accredited in the US?

Yes. AUIS has National accreditation in the United States from the American Academy of Liberal Education.

Is AUIS accredited in Europe?

Each country in Europe handles accreditations differently, but, generally speaking, AUIS’s Iraqi and American accreditations should translate to recognition in Europe, particularly Great Britain.
