Academic Preparatory Program

Instructors

All instructors are native English speakers with experience in teaching second-language learners. Classes are small to allow for one-on-one work with teachers and pair and group work with other students. Instruction varies depending on the subject.

The Program

Grades are important to students, but they are not the primary measure of their mastery of English. Daily class work, oral participation, attendance, writing exercises, university-sponsored lectures, workshops, and extracurricular activities all contribute to the development of students’ English abilities.

Preparation for Undergraduate Studies

Upon completion of APP, students have the necessary English language proficiency and awareness of academic cultural norms and expectations to succeed in their undergraduate studies at AUIS.

APP teaches academic English and academic skills and habits. We train non-native English speakers in specific uses of English for academic purposes so that, upon completion of the Program, students have the necessary English language proficiency and awareness of academic cultural norms and expectations to succeed in their undergraduate studies at AUIS.
